1) I've never had a massage before. What can I expect? You will arrive at my home office, and we will begin by discussing any concerns or areas that you would like me to focus on. Some people choose to have a full body massage, while others prefer more time be spent on specific areas such as the back or neck. I use massage oil. If you prefer lotion please let me know. You are also welcome to bring your own lotion or oil. * If you are a large client, please let me know in advance, I have table extensions for your benefit and added comfort. My massage table will be set already with clean linens and music. I will leave you in privacy to undress to your comfort level and lie down between the sheets on the massage table. You should begin lying face down. Your face will lie in a cradle at the top end of the table. If you wish, I may place a bolster under your ankles so that your feet may relax completely. I will massage your back, neck, shoulders, and the backs of your legs. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. I will then ask you to turn over and I will massage your feet, legs, arms, hands, head, neck and shoulders, and I finish with a light scalp and facial massage. During the massage, you are invited to give feedback so I can make any adjustments to the style or pressure. Once the massage is finished I will leave the room to allow you to dress in privacy. After your massage be sure to drink plenty of water to help cleanse and balance your system. Soft music will be playing the duration of the session. Feel free to bring a cd of your choice. 2) Must I be completely undressed? For a full body Swedish massage, most people undress completely. This doesn’t mean that your modesty is ever compromised. You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. If at anytime you feel undraped or cold please let me know. Only the area being massaged will be exposed. Massage is all about feeling safe and relaxed, so whatever boundaries are natural and appropriate for you will of course be observed. 3) What parts of my body will be massaged? The extent of a massage will depend on several factors, including the length of the session, the specific need for treatment, and your comfort level. Usually a full body massage will include work on your back, neck, head, shoulders, backs and fronts of your legs, feet, arms, and hands. I am happy to finish off with a light facial and scalp massage, just ask :) If you are uncomfortable with being massaged in any area, just inform me at the beginning of your session and I will adjust the massage accordingly. 4) Isn't massage sexual? Our societal conditioning often causes us to equate touch or nudity with sex. So there is no confusion, my massage is therapeutic and completely non-sexual. The practitioner-client relationship is a professional, healing one. Sexual intention is a violation of the bond of trust that is a prerequisite for true healing. 5) How do I schedule an appointment? If you would like to schedule an appointment, please e-mail me at redgembodyworks@hotmail.com and let me know why you are seeking massage, any concerns or questions you may have, and what time and day you prefer. Please inform me of any medical condition or injury you feel I should know about. I am available Monday through Friday evenings from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. |
